Martin Furevik got a baptism of fire with the aquaculture industry at the HavExpo trade fair in Sotra, after just one week on the job. The 33-year-old went straight into action at the stand, where he talked about the company's cleaning robot for land-based aquaculture.
I started on Thursday, May 2, so it was just about right at HavExpo. It was a good way to quickly get to know the industry and our customers. I wanted a job with varied content, where I could work with both my hands and my head," he says.
- Will work with many different things
The company is a startup, and has recently delivered its first washing robot to a land-based fish farm. Including Furevik, the company now has five employees, who also hire consultants when needed.
He says that as the company is small, he expects to have to contribute in many different ways.
"The primary tasks will revolve around mechanical design and further development of the robot," he says.
He describes the start-up of the company as very hectic, but exciting.
There's a steep learning curve ahead.
The 33-year-old has had some exposure to the aquaculture industry through a previous job in the construction industry, but this is his first job in the aquaculture industry.
Mechanical design
Furevik has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, and a master's degree in product development and production from NTNU. For the past five years, he has worked with research and development at Clara Venture Labs.
There I gained experience of mechanical design for everything from subsea to aerospace. In my new job at EasyX, I hope to acquire a lot of knowledge about a new industry, as well as expand my expertise in my own field. In addition to this, I want to take an important role in the company and participate in an exciting journey with the development of our product," he says.
Furevik lives in Knarvik in Nordhordland, and will work from the company's office in Bergen.
